Sneek Peak! Baby Girl Photo Book Template, coming soon!

Photo books

I am a huge fan as many of you know of organizing your photos and actually using and sharing them. For a long time I have wanted to make baby books for my kids. I wanted something that was nice and neat. Something my children will cherish for many years to come.

A photo book just makes sense for me and my situation. And, since Heritage Collector Storybook is easy for me to use, I have the perfect recipe.

Baby Girl Photo Book

I am going to give you a little sneak peek of a baby girl template that will be available very soon to purchase and work with Heritage collector and make your own photo book.

This is so fun to look at. I have had so much fun reliving some of my most precious memories of my little girl. (who isn't so little anymore. She will be in Kindergarten this fall!! )

These pages were created in Heritage Collector Storybook using Designs by Krista's graphics.
The page size will be in 12x12 format. When the book is complete it will have a nice coordinating cover and about 15 pages in the middle.

Adding sound and video really brings your pictures to life.

For my digital copy of my book, it will include tagged video and a Sticky back and the back of the book for the CD with all of her baby pictures and video in slide show format!! I am so excited and can't wait to show the final project!!

Come back soon!

Door Hanger. The perfect solution!

Summer frustration

Many of us love summer. Who doesn't, right? Well, with the good does come some challenges.
During spring break I was so happy to have my kids home! It was wonderful. But, while my kids were home during the break I was reminded a little of what summer was going to be like.

I love that my kids have wonderful friends to play with! They are adorable and they play really well together. So, why the frustration? As many of you know, I have twin boys. And yes, they still take afternoon naps. I needed something that would help my kids not get disturbed during nap time and during time to do their jobs.

A fun door hanger seemed to be the perfect logical idea to help.

(I found the idea for the door hanger from Skip to my love blog.)

I created my door hanger in Heritage Collector Storybook. I used Designs by Krista's Festival Fun kit.  It took me literally 15 minutes to make and print out. Right from home! I did laminate it to protect from the weather.

I love simple things that can make life a bit easier! It will be fun to start trying this out! Thanks for visiting! Come back soon.

Treat Bag Wraps.

We are finally well!!
Welcome back! I know it's been a long time since I have posted anything. My family has been sick every other week since October. No joke. I won't list off all the things we've had but, most recently I had Strep Throat twice in one month as did my twins! It was awful. I can honestly say, Strep Throat is not welcome in my home!!
It's been a glorious of month of  NO illness. Knock on wood. I haven't felt this good in a long time. With more exercise and better eating habits, I feel like a new person.

Treat bag wraps
Okay, since you didn't visit my blog to hear about our chronic illnesses, I will move on to some more fun and exciting topics.

I am always looking for fun ways to put together gifts that are unique and inexpensive. For this project, I found some of the inspiration on Pinterest but then decided I had to add my own personal spin on this.

This project was created using Heritage Collector Storybook and some graphics from Designs by Krista.

 Supplies needed.
Flip over the strip of paper.
Score the bottom to look similar to the letter V.
Place your bag in the middle at the top. ( I had to trim my bag a little to get it to fit right.) Then fill with your goodies.
Add two holes at the top, then tie a bow.

What a fun way to say "thank you" right?
 The possibilities are endless!
 Just another close up.

Just a cute matching envelope and card, tuck behind your plastic bag in the back an voila! A super cute personalized gift that didn't take long or cost a lot to make.

This project is ALL digital except for the bow and the goodies inside! I love how these projects can be created with ease and fun. This project will only cost you about $3.00 or so. Depending on what you decide to fill it with.

This will be available to purchase in template form very soon.

Be sure to come back! I will be showcasing more fun hands on craft ideas made using Heritage Collector!

Free Bread Recipe!

This recipe holds a very special place in my heart. When I was a very young girl we didn't have much. My parents worked so hard to make sure all of my brothers and sisters had just enough.

Sometimes our meals were very interesting.  As a child you don't understand why you can't have different things to eat. All you know is you don't like the taste of  the food prepared and sometimes get upset with mom and dad.

Because things were so tight for us, my mom had to make a lot of things from scratch. This I loved because I LOVED her bread. One of my most fond memories as a child was coming home from a long day of school to a home filled with the wonderful smell of homemade bread! And boy was it good!

Because this recipe is so dear to me I wanted to turn it into a little family history so I can pass it along to my children.

On this recipe you will find the ingredients, directions, a picture and a little history of my mom. Now wouldn't you say that is a family history? I would! It's just another way to connect our families and preserve our cherished recipes too.

Friday Freebie

I tried to share this with you last week but was having all kinds of trouble with my blog. So, here it is!
This fun freebie is offered to all of Krista's fans on Facebook. Click here.

Fun gift idea! Note Pad picture frame.

As many of you know, I am DIYer and love to find a fun inexpensive craft or gift idea. It helps the wallet and my need to be creative.

This ideas was inspired by Pinterest. The original project was done the traditional way with making everything from papers like a traditional scrapbook page.

You can have so much fun with a project like this! The choices are endless! Have fun.

All you need to complete this project is:

  • Clear plastic frame. I used the 4x6 but the 5x7 would be cute too!
  • Sticky note pad color of your choice. (and there are many to choose from these days)
  • Pen
  • Pretty ribbon
  • Designed paper to insert into the plastic frame.

Didn't this turn out so cute! And the best part is, it only cost me about $3 to make!

How I did it:

  • Open up the storybook module within Heritage Collector.
  • Select your page size to 4x6 or whatever size you need.
  • Select your graphics from the database on the right as you see in the picture.
  • Then, the fun part. Start creating!!
  • Just remember to save it often and export to another folder on your computer if you want to have it printed on photo paper like I did. I just sent mine to Costco.
Thanks again for stopping by today! Come back soon.

Photo magnets.

If you are anything like me, you are always on the look out for fun, easy, and affordable gifts to have on hand to give to people.

I know, a very last minute decision. But, to my surprise, they were very easy. I could find all of the product I needed, and they were super affordable and a fun alternative to the normal Christmas baking gifts.

 All you need is:
  • Clear large rocks. You can find at any craft store.
  • Scrap booking paper of your choice. I just printed off some directly from my computer on card stock.
  • E6000 glue
  • Foam brush
  • Plastic baggies for a way to gift them.

I made these cute little magnets using Heritage Collector Storybook! It made it so much easier and much less expensive to make.

12 x 12 Digital Storybook Pages that talk!

Do something out of the ordinary! One one the best reasons for creating Storybook pages within Heritage Collector is the endless possibilities you can do with them!
All of these pages you see here have what we like to call "talking hot spots". When you mouse over the pictures of my kids on each individual page, you hear my kids talking about the page I just created!

Record the fun and silly things your kids say and add their voices talking to the pages!

On this page my daughter sings about her love for bugs. Absolutely PRICELESS! Not only do you have the text, and pictures, you now have her voice to go along with it!! My children love their talking Storybook! They can look through the books and also hear their voices on the computer!

This page was a blast to make. Once I finished designing the page in Heritage Collector Storybook, I asked my son to come in the room and talk into my microphone and talk about his experience with his first tooth lost. You could hear the excitement in his voice. It was awesome!! That is something you cannot write with words. You get the best with both worlds when you have text and sound together!

Thanks for viewing today. Come back for more ideas again! -Kathleen
